Top 5 things about being home:
1. Friends & loved ones within a 40km radius (or 25 miles *raspberry*)
2. No homework!!!
3. The food
4. The super-efficient transport system
5. The cheap movies
Worst 5 things:
1. The heat! Am taking showers 3 times a days, if not for
2. Friends & loved ones within a 40km radius (haha I love all of you, it's just having to schedule meetings and stuff)
3. The cheap shops - burning holes in my pockets!
4. That all too familiar feeling of closed in-ness. That Singapore is growing smaller every day.
5. The knowledge that come Monday, my attachment will start and all this hedonism will end =(
So yday the girlgang tried Din Tai Fung xiao long bao for the first time... I don't find them that spectacular though, Crystal Jade's are comparable. But of course after that unsatisfactory dinner we had to find the perfect dessert. Landed up at Bakerzin just 2 storeys up (whatever happened to good ol' Baker's Inn? where is the good english?) and ordered THREE different chocolate cakes. Heaven.
Saturday, lunched at Out of the Pan for the second time... Salmon crepe with incredibly sour salad greens and sweet chutney. Really nice iced tea with mango puree and almond syrup... which sure beat the Starbucks' Iced Tazo Chai Tea Latte we had later. Ick. It didn't do justice to the name of chai.
Saw rare Vatican treasures at the Asian Civ Museum (note to all interested in going it's the Empress Place branch not the one near the ex-National Lib). They're not usually on display so it was a great chance to see elaborate papal robes, a model of St Peter's Basilica (what's the diff between church and cathedral?) and Relics of the True Cross (what's that?)... enjoyed the paintings best tho. Definitely worth a visit, esp if you're interested in revisiting your Social Studies days and learning about Straits settlers and Sang Nila Utama.
Batman Begins was quite interesting... dark. Fast-paced with lots of plot twists, and not too much sappy love story to hinder. My favourite character has got to be Alfred - it's always the faithful old servant who saves the day (except in the Tomb Raider game, where he just got in the way and cheats exist to lock him up in the freezer).
Super tired... must still be jetlagging. But right now I'm just enjoying myself for all this break is worth.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to watch Moulin Rouge (only one of my favourite movies) with my sis. For like the 6th time.
