the last supper (and lunch)

Like the good girl I am, I've been trying to stay in the last weekend, eat more with the family, yada yada. Am actually ready to return to simple stuff, having eaten chilli crab and frog's legs for like the third time in 2 weeks (and discovering that chilli crab tops the list of calorie-laden Singaporean delicacies, at 378kcals and 393mg cholesterol per crab).

Last night's dinner was plain hilarious. Let's just say my dad has the most archaic sense of propriety ever! I haven't laughed like that at the dinner table for a long time.

Today's dining experiences were pretty interesting too... My entire household (+ aunt + granma) picked me up from the Indoor Stadium after my huge church service and went to element Cafe in Amara Hotel for high tea. It's Jap cuisine is fantabu - piles and piles of fresh sashimi, sushi, soba. And desserts!! :D

Refused to squeeze in the backseat with my mum sis and gran after that and took MRT home.

Ok so convinced I'd packed in everything that could be packed into my humongulous luggages AC had to call and entice me with supper at Gluttons' Square (newly relocated next to Esplanade)... I was like ok my last late night out in SG for a looong time so I hopped on a cab and my speed-demon driver got me there in like 10 min. There is something deeply indulgent about late night supper that keeps me staying out (and the parents screaming, but that's another story). GS justifies the high premium on its tourist-y dishes by pure virtue of its 3am closing time (though I wish more stalls stayed open all the way til then). On my last night in SG I enjoyed barbequed sambal stingray, coconut juice with lemon, and the view:

Ok. Chi-town, here I come!
