A is for... Appreciation
So today was a good day, for the record. First I woke up bright and early to run (ok, walk) 4km for charity... Run-A-Movie is an event organised by this charity org called HOPE and I'm plugging for them not cos I went for the run (in fact it was rather serendipitous that I went, since I just wanted to get some exercise in the company of colleagues) but cos I was impressed by their mission statement. Read more about HOPE here.
In the afternoon I attended a concert put together by a friend from UChicago. The programme was really impressive and so was the talent of the young musicians I supported. Especially enjoyed the opera excerpts - but of course I am partial to the human voice. It's by far the most versatile and expressive IMHO :)
After that I met Janice for A is for Andy, an exhibition of 116 of Andy Warhol's works. The venue was small but just nice for the crowd - largely yuppies, expats and artsy types, some of whom were actually inquiring abt bidding prices 0_o Incidentally if you have a couple million bucks to spare, you should really consider investing in some Andy Warhol. Cos apparently Hugh Grant has just auctioned off his of Liz Hurley for some 11 mil pounds, at a profit of 9 mil...
"People need to be made more aware of the need to work at learning how to live because life is so quick and sometimes it goes away too quickly."
- Andy Warhol (1928-1987)
Afterwards we took a little stroll down the Singapore River and stopped at this gorgeous chocolate cafe for tea:
Chocolate tarte and chocolate mint tea at Laurent
So it's a really good day when I can spend time appreciating my health, my friends, good food and young talents in Singapore :) On top of that I'm really enjoying a night in uploading photos and blogging!
La vie boheme :)
