I am Singaporean

cos I spend the entire national holiday 'relac-ing one corner' and then complain about the Gahmen not giving us the rest of the week off :P

Watching the NDP today, I suddenly remembered how I used to be a pledge-taker in primary school. I'd say the pledge, phrase by phrase, with the entire school repeating after me (woo power trip haha)... I always worried I'd forget the words and make everyone laugh but that never happened.

Our wonderful pledge has been ingrained in me til today ;) Do I still believe in it though? Having become a lot more cynical...

Over dinner with a good friend a couple nights ago, we were having an in-depth conversation on education and the state of our youth, etc... decided Singaporeans really take the cake at complaining. Bad news is taken as yet another opportunity to criticise, good news is taken as propaganda. I think our leaders have done a lot more than we give credit for... there's a long way to go before our Renaissance City takes shape, but let's just take today to celebrate our little country, both the good and the bad.
