it's gonna be a happy new year

I think, despite having taken on a crazy quarter with 6 midterms (yes, you got me right), 4 midterms, and 2 classes with twice-weekly assignments, that I'm in a comfortable place. Finally settling into a sort of rhythm, where I'm comfortable with myself and what I'm doing, not so worried about the people around me and about tomorrow :)

Music Civ has been really interesting (hope my petition to switch Civ gets approved!)... despite the breakneck courseload I am actually having fun torturing myself with the readings. Which is the exact opposite of Physics (only one more quarter left of that, thank God - and I have Kenneth TK and Calvin all in the same lab section to suffer with)... the textbook has this quote about music being the highest form of art because it "elevates and ennobles everything that it expresses", and I really must agree!

Went to a jazz club (Velvet Lounge, near Chinatown) with Alex et al. last night... not bad at all! Listening to jazz is quite an intellectual experience cos you have to listen hard for the rhythm (I heart syncopation, just ask Ppt how I annoyed him with Coldplay and Gypsy kings music :P) But the sax players were so zai, just close your eyes for a bit and you can hear the sax speaking to you... whispering sweet nothings in your ear, scales running up and down your soul :) As for the drummer ("he needs therapy", says AC), I've never seen anyone get so much pleasure off of his drums before.

If music be the food of love, play on.
