Age - just a number?

Today in Pierce some ppl were teasing a third year guy about how ancient he was ("24 alr? waaaat?") and that's when I realised, it's true! Well not that 24 is ancient, in the grand scheme of things, but that we're all growing up. All around me people are deciding who they want to live with, who they want to work for, who they want to be with for the rest of their lives. Everyone has increasingly numerous and important decisions to make as life goes on.

The passage of time isn't something that's escaped my attention - rather, it's been surfacing and niggling me at points throughout my college, especially as it draws nearer to graduation. Soon I'll have to go home and earn my keep, and (possibly) go off to PhD somewhere... or decide on something else altogether. Guess the incident in the dining hall was just another stark reminder that life isn't gonna sit around and wait for you. It can and will happen, and it's up to you how you want to deal with it.

Control freak issues perhaps? But yeap I don't want to be a Rip van Winkle, and one day open my eyes to see that the world has moved on without my knowledge or contribution. Much as I would like to remain a kid forever, I know there's stuff to be done, relationships to be shared, experiences to be had. There's a whole world of experiences awaiting... You can graduate from college, but you never graduate from life.

Hey life, wait up!
