27 Dresses

Another chick flick/ rom com, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Seeing the beautiful Katherine Heigl on the big screen brought back a nice memory... and the bridesmaid dresses were such a laugh. I could really relate to her character who's spending her life organising other peoples' weddings (!!)... I think a lot of my teenage years were spent being a yeswoman and I resented that inwardly. But while I may not be as nice now, I'm happier and more comfortable with myself. And I still cherish the idea that marriage is something precious, much more than a wedding (or -even- the dresses ;)

Besides being truthful to oneself and to those one cares about, I think the movie also touched nicely on people having to put aside past hurts. Something I believe everyone is guilty of, because sometimes the past hurts too much and it seems much easier just to sweep stuff under the carpet.

On a mostly unrelated note, I'm appalled at the views on dating of a couple of guys. Thanks for contributing to my foul mood today!
