Prost!

To recover from the wedding night (well not that there was anything to recover -from-), I celebrated Oktoberfest at Brotzeit with some gfs. The Oktoberfest brew, sausages and pork knuckles, and (molten) chocolate cake were gooood... only the overly loud pop music was not. Did you know that German when sung doesn't sound guttural at all? I could barely differentiate it from singsong Thai pop.

After which we went shopping at Daiso, $2 heaven, and I picked up weird and wonderful snacks like coffee-green tea sandwich cookies and cheese-filled codfish sticks:

Finally it was off to catch the latest Woody Allen film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Apart from its gorgeous backdrop of Gaudi monuments and rustic countryside (that made me want to visit Europe more than ever!) and the yummy female leads, VCB was one of the better movies I've seen in a while. It had a very open ending, almost as it started, and like the other Allen films I've seen (Match Point and Annie Hall), gave plenty of food for thought.

I think a lot of us can identify with the protagonists' search for love. Between Vicky's sudden dissatisfaction with an otherwise perfect marriage or Cristina's chronic roving eye, there were plenty of themes that hit very close to home for me. How can we be sure of what, or who, we want? That that won't change in the next few years... or ten?

Hearkening back to my previous post... that's why I think love above all is a commitment; and marriage a leap of faith that God can, and will, help you make :)
