Stepping into 2005 with a spirit of faith

Ok have recovered from bout of gluttony sufficiently to say, Sunday's sermon was great! Felt like I'd come home again... nowhere has worship atm like ncc does :)

Today pprince talked abt the daughters of Zehoshephad (Joshua 17:3-18) and how their audacity to 'demand' their birthright as rulers of their tribe (only sons could succeed rulers). Their daring to ask sthing huge and unthinkable from God pleased Him and resulted in abundant blessings, and ultimately the birth of an actual King (since Jesus was born of Mary, who could claim the throne from David!). The msg was to pray big prayers, cos the more you expect from Him, the more He gives *wow*

Also been reading The Prayer of Jabez...
"Oh, that you would bless me indeed,
and enlarge my territory,
that Your hand would be with me,
and that you would keep me from evil!"

A simple but powerful prayer. In a somewhat radical way it's encouraging us to pray selfish prayers... the author's rationale is that when we ask for God's blessing, we're not asking for more of what we could get for ourselves (Proverbs 10:22). We're asking for powerful, life-changing, miraculous supernatural favours entirely in accordance to His will and power and purposes... as opposed to basing our needs on our wants, our experiences, our immediate situations. Gonna pray this prayer and step into the new year looking for miracles! =)
