On Thu I decided to celebrate the end of my ochem midterm by going ice-skating. It was an itch that had been growing all through the week; and I suddenly decided it was a great pity I hadn't skated on the Midway rink yet... so I called up the bestest person to skate with on Friday ;)

I hadn't skated in about 6 years, but Wincy was a great teacher... it was fun learning again! There were really good oldies being played at the skating rink, and it really brought back memories of that last time I went, back in sec sch (Sh, rem how you said you'll always rem me in my green T-shirt with the chick on it, with my 2 ultra-curly ponytails, grinning away?)

It's such a beautiful thing to see the human form in action. Man was never made to conquer the slippery ice but somehow he did and does; and with such grace and agility (in Wincy's case anyway) too.

Ate Garbage (literally... from the Med) for dinner and wound up with a serious case of pufferfish eyes, but luckily we watched Rent in the dark after that!

Rent is my ideal modern musical ('rock opera' they call it) - it's chock-full of powerful songs and every one speaks to your heart. It has a real, gritty and very relevant theme (AIDS) but it's ultimately a very exuberant tale, one full of love and hope. The story of how Rent came into being is incredibly romantic and tragic at the same time - read about it here.
