tanned from tioman

Just back from 3 days of lying around on one of the top 10 beaches in the world... the 3 new 'S'es are Snorkelling, Suntanning, and Spa!

So a couple weeks before the end of Spring quarter my sis decided to Spring a beach retreat for the 2 of us ;) I barely had the chance to put down my luggage (and the parents, a chance to start nagging) before we were off to the sunkissed shores of
Tioman (H)

Getting there: it's about 4 hours by coach across the Causeway into Johor, followed by a 1.5hr ferry ride replete with screaming kids. This was the one cloud on my sunny skies - the crush of Singaporeans also on holiday! Point in qn: upon arriving within sight of a certain beach in Tioman half the boat stood up and rushed to the exit, causing the boat to tip to one side and become dangerously at risk of capsizing.

Clarification: I lurve kids, really I do (why else did I volunteer at a childcare centre for 4 months?)... but sometimes I feel they should disappear between the ages of 6 months and 3 years - when they've figured how to cry and make the most fearsome noise, but not how to express why they're crying (so the hapless parents can make amends and restore peace). Heh, not so far out of that phase yet I'm so quick to criticise.

Ah well, nothing to be done about that. Economy travel's always tiring - though I guess I should be glad I'm blessed with that enviable capacity to sleep (almost immediately) on moving vehicles :P So was 6 hours stuck in a bus/ ferry with noisome kids (and their parents) worth it?

Yes, for this:
