Things I'm glad I've learnt before coming:
- cross-linking polymers and fluorescence spectroscopy (from much-abhorred Gen Chem, of all courses)
- how to use a photocopying machine (my prof doesn't know how, and he needed to give me copies of 200 pgs worth of papers, so i promptly offered my awesome administrative services)
- how to appear hard at work when i'm actually slacking off

Things I'd wished I'd learnt before I came:
- how to locate my mentor when he disappears for hours at a time
- that the Biopolis slope is really very steep and not heel friendly
- that the XO fish slice bee hoon at Holland V is so awesome!!

Things I never learnt, that I'm thankful materialised at the right time:
- that people are generally nicer and more helpful than I think
- to sniff out fish slice bee hoon when lost in Holland V (I've only been the market side once, ever)
- to double check the pH of my solutions, and realise I'd forgotten to add HCl to one of them (this expt is ALL about using the right pHs)
