Lined

For those of you who are fed up with me going on about being fed (with the most glorious and galumptious food ever!), stop reading now; the rest, prepare your tummies!!

The Line is Shangri-La's 24hr buffet restaurant. It's a sleek modern place with pretty interior deco (and pretty prices to match). Very nice except their plates are designed wrongly (we heard 3 crashes of broken dishes throughout the night), and it's kinda easy to get lost amongst the white pillars...

The cuisine is intercontinental, i.e. they serve Indian and Japanese and everything in between. Everything was wonderful but just to whet your appetites I'll describe what there was for DESSERT (which is, of course, the first thing one should look for at buffets to gauge how much space to leave):
2 shelves of multi-coloured jellies (almond, raspberry, mint)
1 shelf of cheesecakes (mocha, walnut, chocolate)
1 shelf of nyonya kuehs
1 shelf of creme brulee, coffee cream, custards and strudels
Plus a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN with fruits and biccies for dipping. I was all "get your hands off the strawberries woman, they're MINE!"

Anyway. We were halfway into the second round when who should walk in but... MY PARENTS.
Bf: Eh, it's your dad.
Me: Haha, yah right. (goes on chewing satay with marvellous peanut sauce)
Bf: It really is your parents!
Me: (turning around) !!!!!!!!!!

Yes how scary right. And I hadn't told them my meeting had been cancelled! Was worried they'd be pissed I wasn't joining in their celebration (urgh... so lightbulb) but thank God they weren't (probably too embarrassed for causing a scene, with 10 ppl getting up and scrambling to be introduced). I had casually mentioned The Line to my dad previously, that it sounded like a good place and he should bring my mum there since her bday was coming up... but he'd looked so unenthusiastic I'd decided he wasn't interested. (Goes to show how lazy he is, couldn't even bother doing any research to bring my mum somewhere nice!)

Err yes. Thankfully the shock didn't kill my appetite, and I managed to sneak several plates of brownies and ice-cream and crepes past them. The staff were very nice and friendly too, they gave my mum a little orange souffle thing with a candle on the house (without breaking any plates, thank God) and we all sang a little bday song. Awww.

Yes I thought I wouldn't need breakfast OR lunch today, but sadly I was mistaken and the lab students are going out for Katong laksa in Holland V instead. Hope I don't throw everything up during the presentation later *quakes* The profs actually know their stuff and ask intelligent questions k. Nvm that it's not even their field, it's daunting enough knowing that if you slip up you'll fall right into the jaws of the Venus flytrap that is the director...

edit: The presentation went well, thanks everyone for lending your support!
