Dinner plan-making

For ppl who like to plan ahead... give up now.

Cos given the way things work, plans seldom do. Arranging to have a nice simple dinner somehow always becomes a mess on all sorts levels for me. And it's not just meals... making plans to have meetings and to stage performances are hell cos of schedule conflicts; my acting class has been affected cos people fail to show when they're expected to; not to mention the hospital has changed every single one of my appts this year. If an institution like UofCH can't get its act together, what more mere mortals??

I'm sian of penning appts into my organizer (virtually or literally) and crossing them out - sometimes multiple times. Not that it's any one person's fault... things do come up. And at very short notice, esp in college, esp with more people. But it just sucks to have a beautiful picture in your head of what will happen... and then have it shattered by random selfish person y'know?

I used to be happy to be able to firm up plans for the weekend the Monday before (or even the Monday before that. The feeling of writing things into my organizer... was a feeling of power =P But now I don't really like committing to anything more than a day in advance, because I know plans change, peoples' minds change... in fact even a day is kinda long notice for a lot of people around me.

People nowadays. So fickle-minded (myself included). What's the world coming to?
